Nominations open for the 2015 SMBBGR Awards

Posted on June 15, 2015

They’re baaaaack! The SMBBGR Awards return in July to recognize the Bangor area’s best in social media. For our fourth year of awards, we’re adding some new awards to go along with some favorites we’ve had from the start.

We’ll be holding this year’s awards on our July 9th breakfast. Before we do, we need your help to nominate and vote for people and businesses for each of our SMBBGR Award categories.

First up: nominations. Between now and Wednesday, June 25th at noon, we want you to send us your suggestions (as many as you’d like for each category!) for Bangor-area businesses and individuals you think would be great contenders for the following awards:

  • The #HashtaggerAward: Who is the go-to person for their industry thanks to social media? Who has been able to build their reputation and expertise via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, a blog, or other networks enough so that their name is synonymous with the work they do? (2014 winner: Tanya Emery)
  • The #HeyBangorAward: Hark! Music! A siren! Traffic! The winner of the Hey Bangor award is connected with answers about Bangor. If there’s something going down in the Queen City, you’ll hear it from them. (new category!)
  • The ‪#‎PhotogenicAward‬: Whether it’s through photos, videos, or sound, the winner of this award is a master of going between the lines and integrating media into their social media world. Whose content is worth a thousand words? (2014 winner: Jeff Kirlin)
  • The #‎NewserAward‬: BREAKING: They’re on the scene giving you the latest news and stories you need to know the Bangor area. Who wields the microphone or laptop best to give you the most complete and accurate record of the day-to-day in Bangor? (new category!)
  • The #EngagementAward: Posting’s one thing, but engaging with your audience is another. The Engagement Award winner is always there with a reply or more info when someone interacts. Who’s the best at staying in touch with their own social media crowd on Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks? (2014 winner: Governor’s Restaurant)
  • The #TrendingAward: Who won the social media crown in the greater Bangor area this year? The Trending Award winner gave you no choice but to click the share or retweet button and left you talking well beyond the post. Like. (new category!)

We’re looking for a new group of winners this year that show how beneficial social media can be in a variety of ways. Again, you can nominate as many people or companies as you like for each category, and nominees don’t have to be past SMBBGR attendees.

After nominations close, we’ll open up final voting to let the Bangor community decide who wins each of the awards. Join us for our July 9th breakfast to hear who wins!

Thank you for helping decide this year’s award winners. Go nominate your favorites now!
